Projects

Authentic character animation for brands that demand real impact

Capybara Animation Studio was founded by creators with a feature film track record who also apply their expertise to commercial projects. The three founders have worked on films (Miss Moxy, Benjamin Bat, Ainbo, Up and Away), their own short films (Hoeba! and Howling, both selected for Cinekid and Kaboom), series (Happy! on Netflix, Kop Op), and game cinematics (Horizon Zero Dawn, Killzone, Avengers).

Working with Capybara means creating stories that leave a lasting impression through authentic character animation with surprising moments. Human emotion and humor in motion. A recognizable, unique style that stands out immediately.
And the endless flexibility of CGI, you can truly go in any direction, with full creative control over the final result.

We combine that filmmaker expertise with years of advertising experience.

The result: storytelling quality that serves your product and message optimally. Your product needs to look good, the pack-shot must be right, the message must be clear. Filmmaker quality that truly achieves its goal.

Miss Moxy

85-minute feature film

Capybara's latest feature film showcases the level of storytelling skill and technical quality we apply to commissioned projects. From concept to theatrical release.

Miss Moxy, a house cat, gets lost during a holiday and must find her way back home through Southern Europe with the help of the most disagreeable creatures a cat could imagine: a comical dog and an old wise bird. Along this journey, she broadens her perspective on life and discovers the true meaning of friendship.

What you get with Capybara

Feature Film Foundation

Techniques and discipline of feature film production applied to every project. Timing, staging, camera work, and storytelling. Even short commercials receive the same attention and emotional impact as longer narratives.

Authentic Character Animation

Handcrafted animation infused with human emotion and humor. Where appropriate, we animate on twos for that classic motion quality. The technique supports what the story needs.

Direct access to creators

Engaging with the people who create the work. Creative decisions are made together with animators, modelers, and lighters. Fast feedback loops, clear communication.

Teams per project

The right specialists for your specific challenge. Character animation requires different expertise than motion graphics, while product visualization calls for other skills than stylized environments.

PROFESSIONAL pipeline

Studio-grade workflow that integrates seamlessly with production partners.
Flexible tool stack (Maya, Blender, Houdini) and compatible file formats for every stage of the process.

Experienced Leadership

Sem, Lewis, and Niels each bring their own specialization, from animation supervision and directing to technical direction. Together, they ensure that projects remain technically and creatively top-notch.

Authenticity

Capybara uses all modern tools and techniques wherever it enhances production. No technology is excluded if it improves the final outcome.

But the final product should always be surprisingly and genuinely human. Real character performances where human emotion and humor come to life. A style that stands out and intrigues. Stories that are never boring.

The audience craves authenticity and recognizes it instantly. This is especially true on social media, where artificial content is easily spotted and can pose a risk to your brand.

Tools may change, but the need for authentic stories remains.

Craftsmanship

Handcrafted work represents limitless control. Every move, every timing, every frame is a deliberate choice. Nothing is random; everything is predictable and adjustable.

This craftsmanship gives you, as a director or client, maximum influence over the final result. If something isn't working, we can adjust it. If something does work, we can precisely understand why.

Capybara's background in games and films means we are accustomed to complex production pipelines where precision is essential. We apply that discipline to every commercial project.

First Contact and Discovery

First Contact and Discovery

01

Introduction

An initial call to discuss your project and goals, as well as to get to know your company. What do you want to tell, who do you want to reach, and what is the context of this campaign?
And practically: what is your target budget and desired timeline? The more we know, the better (and faster) we can assess what's possible and which approach fits best.

02

Proposal Options

Depending on the project size and situation, we work in different ways:

  • Direct quote - With a clear scope, we can create a detailed quote right away

  • Treatment development - First, we develop the creative direction before discussing the budget

  • Pitch with Capybara team - For larger projects, we present our approach and examples

  • Tender process - For official tenders, we provide complete pitch decks

We adapt to your process as long as we stay in communication and receive enough information to create a realistic plan.

03

Planning and Production

With an agreement, you gain direct access to the Capybara team. Regular check-ins, no surprises, clear communication on progress and any challenges.

04

Delivery

We deliver the final video in all desired formats and resolutions. Adaptations for social media channels. Versions with and without subtitles. Everything ready for use.

My Role

I work at Capybara as a Freelance Creative Producer and have direct connections with the founders. My background is in visual design, motion design, and animation production, with years of experience at various Dutch studios and agencies on commercial projects.

This communication experience means I understand the challenges that agencies and brands face. Which questions always arise, what pitfalls exist, and what are realistic expectations within certain budgets. I speak both languages: the creative language of filmmakers and the practical language of agencies.

Capybara brings the film and game expertise that ensures quality. I bring the agency knowledge that makes sure this quality serves your product optimally. The product must look good, the packshot must be correct, and the message must be clear. Graphic finishing, supers, branding details—these are the things customers pay attention to right away.

The result is filmmaker discipline applied to commercial reality. Storytelling quality with an understanding of deadlines, budgets, and of course, that packshot that looks really appealing.
